How to choose the mold opening method for silicone replication


There are three ways to open silicone molds: brush mold, injection mold, and package mold. So, how to determine which mold opening method is better when replicating your product? Actually, there are techniques involved. Let's analyze this issue in detail below.

The selection of a suitable mold opening method is for the convenience of demolding and the accurate replication of the master mold model to ensure the overall simulation effect.

Before making a choice, we can divide the master mold of the model into two situations: one is complex and uneven in appearance texture, and the other is relatively simple, smooth and regular overall. From here, we can easily distinguish between the two mold opening methods. Therefore, if the size is large and the pattern is complex and fine, it is better to choose the brush mold (sheet mold) method. If the surface texture is simple, smooth and regular, we can choose the injection mold or package mold opening method.
 Additionally, it should be noted that injection molds generally use silicone with relatively soft hardness, as this makes demolding easier and does not damage the mother mold inside the silicone mold.
