High temperature silicone rubber: three categories and applications of heat conductive silicone rubber

High temperature silicone rubber manufacturers tell you that thermal conductive silicone rubber is widely used in electronic and electrical appliances, mainly used in the heat conduction and heat dissipation function of heating parts. Because the performance of ordinary thermal conductive silicone rubber depends on its aluminum hydroxide content, however, there are also special thermal conductive silicone greases that will be mixed with a certain amount of precious metal oxides. Then, the thermal conductive silicone can be classified into three states when used in the field: Grease (thermal conductive silicone grease), paste (thermal conductive paste) and patch (thermal conductive gasket).

Grease like (thermal conductive silicone grease) is the one with the highest thermal conductivity among the three states. Thermal conductive silicone grease is paste like, sticky and non dry, and can be used for more than four years in general. Thermal conductive silicone grease is mainly used to fill the gap between the CPU and the heat sink. This material is called thermal conductive interface material in the industry. Its function is to conduct the heat emitted by the CPU to the heat sink, keep the CPU temperature at a stable working level, effectively prevent the CPU from being damaged due to poor heat dissipation, and extend the service life. Even if the two surfaces of the radiator and the hot air part are smooth, there will be gaps when they meet and contact. The air in the gaps is a poor medium of heat conduction, which will seriously hinder the heat transfer to the heat sink. At this time, the heat conductive silicone grease is used to play its due role.

Paste (thermal conductive paste) is a kind of colloid that can be cured at normal temperature. Its color is white or black. It needs to react with water vapor in the air before it can be cured. The biggest difference between thermal conductive paste and thermal conductive silicone grease is that the thermal conductive paste can be cured. After curing, it has a certain degree of elasticity, adhesiveness and extensibility, while the thermal conductive paste has fixing and adhesive properties, so it conforms to the general process sealing, In the thermal conductivity, the thermal paste is just opposite to the thermal conductive silicone grease. It is the lowest thermal conductivity, so it is generally used for the thermal conductivity of components such as capacitors and resistors.

The cost of the patch (heat conductive gasket) is relatively low. It has the characteristics of easy replacement and non drying, and is generally suitable for simple processing of ordinary devices. Thermal conductive gaskets are generally pasted on the side of the battery to fill the gap between the battery and the shell, and also play a buffer and stable role. Because the thermal conductivity of this material is relatively small, it is generally not suitable for high-end electronic products.
