The main reason for the fire of odorless vulcanizing agent during rubber mixing is that odorless vulcanizing agent is a highly dangerous flammable and explosive chemical similar to gasoline. If the temperature of the roller of the refiner is too high, static electricity is generated from the rubber material and direct contact with open fire during rubber mixing, the odorless vulcanizing agent will catch fire. In addition, when the high hardness mixed silicone rubber is cross-linked with the odorless curing agent, the roller will catch fire because the odorless curing agent is soft and cannot be cross-linked with the high hardness silicone rubber.
So how to effectively solve the fire phenomenon of odorless vulcanizing agent?
1. Install frequency converter on the open mill, especially reduce the roller speed when adding odorless curing agent;
2. When adding odorless vulcanizing agent in rubber mixing, we must make more triangle bags to make the vulcanizing agent and rubber completely mixed evenly;
3. Install static eliminator on the open mill;
4. If we need to add odorless vulcanizing agent to high hardness silicone rubber, we can use a small batch of 40 degree silicone rubber to mix with odorless vulcanizing agent evenly first, and then add high hardness silicone rubber to mix evenly.
5. The open mill is supplied with cooling water. If possible, the chiller can be used for rapid cooling.
The above methods can effectively avoid the fire of odorless vulcanizing agent when mixing rubber, but we still need to take preventive measures. When mixing rubber, we need to equip fire extinguishers, fire blankets and other fire-fighting equipment. If the vulcanizing agent catches fire, first turn off the power and then use the fire blankets and fire extinguishers to extinguish the fire.
