The edge frying problem of silicone rubber products mainly occurs on thicker products, especially on the mold clamping line of silicone rubber products. Then how to effectively solve the problem of edge frying of silicone products.
First of all, we should start with silicone rubber raw materials. The problem of edge frying is not a quality problem, but it is a high peroxide content when the silicone rubber raw materials are used to make rubber, resulting in rapid vulcanization of the surface of silicone rubber products, which has not yet been fully vulcanized inside. The silicone rubber products expand when they are out of the mold and shrink when they are hot. Edge frying is easy to occur at the mold closing line of silicone rubber products. Therefore, we should reduce the amount of peroxide added when mixing rubber, so that the internal and external silicone products can be fully vulcanized.
Then we need to start from the production process. The high curing temperature leads to the rapid vulcanization of the surface of silicone products while the interior is not yet fully vulcanized. Therefore, we need to reduce the curing temperature so that the interior and exterior can be fully vulcanized. If the vulcanization does not mature after lowering the temperature, we should extend the vulcanization time appropriately to solve this problem.
Finally, we need to use scientific instruments for detection and analysis, and put silicone rubber raw materials into the vulcanizer for experiment. We can analyze by observing the vulcanization systems T10 and T90. If the peroxide content in the silicone rubber raw material is too high, the T10 time will be lower, and if the peroxide content is too low, the T10 time will be higher. Generally, if you want to effectively solve the problem of edge frying of silicone products, the T10 test time is about 40S-45S.
