Silicone rubber is the largest category of organosilicon products. It is an elemental organic elastomer obtained by hydrolysis and polycondensation of various dichlorosilane. Thermal vulcanization type (high-temperature vulcanized silicone rubber HTV) and room temperature vulcanization type (RTV), wherein the room temperature vulcanization type is divided into polycondensation reaction type and addition reaction type. High-temperature silicone rubber is mainly used to manufacture various silicone rubber products, while room-temperature silicone rubber is mainly used as adhesive, potting material or mold. The amount of heat vulcanization type is the largest, and the heat vulcanization type is divided into methyl silicone rubber (MQ), methyl vinyl silicone rubber (VMQ, the amount and product brand are the largest), methyl vinyl phenyl silicone rubber PVMQ (low temperature and radiation resistance), and other fluorosilicone rubber.

1. Characteristics of silicone rubber

The molecular structure of organosilicon (polydimethylsiloxane) is dominated by siloxane bonds, and its structure is very stable. Therefore, compared with ordinary organic rubber, organosilicon compounds have many beneficial characteristics, such as heat resistance, electrical insulation, chemical stability, etc.

Due to its helical structure and very small intermolecular force, silicone has good elasticity, flexibility and cold resistance. In addition, because the methyl group on the outside of the spiral structure can rotate freely, the silicone can also play a lot of unique surface characteristics, such as waterproof, demoulding and so on.

2. Processing process of silicone rubber

The rubber blend is made by adding raw silicone rubber to the double-roller rubber mixer or gradually adding white carbon black, silicone oil and other additives into the closed kneader. The performance of silicone rubber varies according to the different fillers and additives added.
