The Role of Silicone Rubber Insulators

Silicone rubber (English name: Silicone rubber) is a silicone polymer obtained by controlling the length of the skeleton, the type of organic groups and the crosslinking of the skeleton. And insulators are made of silicone rubber. Below, the editor will introduce the role of silicone rubber insulators.

At one end of the high-voltage wire connection tower, there are many disc-shaped insulators hanging to increase the creepage distance, usually made of glass or ceramic, called insulators.

In order to prevent floating dust and other pollutants from adhering to the surface of the insulator, forming a path that is broken down by the voltage at both ends of the insulator, which is called creepage. Therefore, increasing the surface distance, which is called creepage distance, and discharging along the insulation surface, which is called leakage distance, is called creepage distance. creepage distance=surface distance/system high voltage. According to the degree of pollution, in heavily polluted areas, the creepage distance is generally 31 millimeters/per kilovolt.

Zero value insulators refer to insulators whose potential distribution at both ends of the insulator is close to or equal to zero during operation.

The impact of zero or low value insulators: The insulation of the line conductor depends on the insulator string. Due to manufacturing defects or external effects, the insulation performance of the insulators will continue to deteriorate. When the insulation resistance decreases or becomes zero, it is called low or zero value insulators. We have tested the line and found that the proportion of zero or low value insulators is as high as about 9%. This is another main reason for the high lightning trip rate of our company's line. Insulators are smooth and can reduce the capacitive reactance between wires to reduce current loss.

Insulators are a special type of insulation control that can play an important role in overhead transmission lines. In the early years, insulators were mostly used for power poles, but gradually developed into many disc shaped insulators hanging on one end of the connection tower of high voltage power lines. Insulators should not fail due to various mechanical and electrical stresses caused by changes in environmental and electrical load conditions, otherwise they will not have a significant impact and will damage the service and operating life of the entire line.
