Introduction to Vinyl Resin

Vinyl Ester Resins is internationally recognized as a highly corrosion-resistant resin.

The standard bisphenol A oxirene resin is a vinyl resin synthesized by the reaction of methacrylic acid and bisphenol A epoxy resin, which is easily soluble in styrene solution. This type of resin has the following characteristics:

1. The double bonds at both ends of the molecular chain are extremely active, allowing the vinyl resin to quickly solidify and gain strength, resulting in highly corrosion-resistant polymers;

2. Synthesized using methacrylic acid, the methyl groups on the ester bond edge can provide protection and improve hydrolysis resistance;

3. The resin has a low ester bond content, which is 35-50% less per mole than chemical resistant polyester (bisphenol A fumaric acid UPR), improving its alkali resistance;

4. More secondary hydroxyl groups can improve the wettability and adhesion of glass fibers, and increase the mechanical strength of laminated products;

5. Due to cross-linking only at both ends of the molecule.

Flame retardant vinyl resin is generally synthesized using brominated epoxy resin. Due to the presence of bromine in the resin, flame retardant vinyl resin not only has chemical resistance but also can be flame retardant.
