Why does food grade mold silicone exhibit surface adhesion?

Recently, it has been found that more and more people prefer to make their own handmade or food molds. Many people choose food grade silicone to make it because it is easy to operate and does not require any equipment. But we often encounter feedback from some customers on why the surface of molds made of food grade silicone sticks, like it doesn't solidify, and what is the reason for the sticking of food grade mold silicone.

The main reasons for non curing or surface sticking of food grade silicone are as follows:

1. The curing temperature of food silicone during operation is too low

2. The AB component of food silicone is not mixed strictly according to the specified proportion

3. Incomplete mixing during silicone mixing process

4. The silicone mixing container is not clean or the mixing tool is not clean

5. The surface of the original mold has not been treated (especially if the original mold contains heavy metal elements or contains nitrogen, sulfur, tin, arsenic, mercury, lead, etc.)

6. The original mold material is polyurethane resin.

How to solve the above problems?

It can increase the curing temperature of food grade silicone, and an advantage of increasing the curing temperature is that it can shorten the curing time

During the mixing process, mix strictly according to the mixing ratio provided by the manufacturer. Common mixing ratios for food grade silicone include 1:1 and 100:2.

When mixing food grade silicone AB components, be sure to use a clean container and mixing tool. If conditions permit, spray a layer or even multiple layers of release agent on the surface of the mold. The release agent can effectively block the contact between the silicone and some chemical substances inside the mold that cause the silicone to not solidify and the silicone.
