Application of organic silicone in new energy vehicles

Organic silica gel has high and low temperature resistance, electrical insulation, corrosion resistance, oxidation resistance, physiological inertia and other performance advantages. According to these characteristics, the different types of power battery market and customer needs, the organic silicone enterprise has developed different forms of products. At present, the most common types of products on the market are: thermal conductivity potting glue/joint filling agent, foaming silica gel, thermal conductivity gasket, thermal conductivity grease and thermal conductivity mud.

In new energy vehicle accidents, lithium battery fire or explosion is the most important cause. There are two ways to reduce and eliminate such accidents. One is to change the lithium battery itself, and the other is to use organic silicone as pot-sealing material to play a fire retardant role.

The role of organic silicone in the new energy vehicle battery mainly includes the following three points:

1, heat conduction and heat dissipation, balanced temperature. The normal operating temperature of lithium battery is between -20℃ and 60℃. Too high or too low temperature is likely to cause problems. After the use of organic silica gel, according to the different PACK process, organic silica gel perfusion, arranged in the gap around the battery PACK, add a layer of barrier for the battery PACK, even in overheating or too cold environment, the battery PACK can still work stably.

2. Flame retardant and explosion-proof. When a single cell in the battery pack has a limit failure explosion, silicone pogging glue can isolate oxygen and play a protective role, to protect other cells in the battery pack from being affected, and not cause the whole battery pack to explode and burn.

3. Insulation and waterproof. The physiological inertia of silicone ensures compatibility with other materials during the PACK process, and the insulation properties can protect the battery's internal key electronics, cells and bus, thus avoiding short circuit, surge and battery fire risk. In addition, organic silica gel hate water, using this feature of the enterprise also developed waterproof products, in response to typhoon, rainstorm and other harsh environment, organic silica gel can put on a "waterproof clothing" for the battery.
