Methyl hydrogen containing silicone oil is a chemical substance commonly known as hydrogen containing silicone oil, with the molecular formula: (CH3) 3Si0 [(CH3) (H) Si0] nSi (CH3) 3.
The scientific name of organosilicon is polysiloxane resin. In polysiloxane molecules, the ratio of organic substituents (R) to silicon atoms (Si) is an important parameter that determines the product form. When R/Si<2, the product is silicone resin; When R/Si ≈ 2, it is a high viscosity plastic state of raw rubber, namely silicone rubber; When R/Si>2, it is a low molecular weight oily substance, called silicone oil.
Methyl hydrogen containing silicone oil is prone to crosslinking reactions due to the presence of a certain number of active Si-H bonds in its molecules. Under the catalysis of Pt catalyst, it can be used as a crosslinking agent for additive liquid silicone rubber. Under the action of metal salts and catalysts, hydrophobic films can be formed on the surfaces of various substances at lower temperatures. Si-H bonds are prone to breakage under alkaline conditions:
Appearance: The external appearance of silicone oil shows that hydrogen containing methyl silicone oil is generally a colorless or slightly yellow transparent liquid. We mentioned when introducing the distinction between genuine and fake silicone oil that inferior silicone oil is usually cloudy. The color of silicone oil is an important criterion for identifying its quality.
Hydrogen content: The biggest difference between methyl hydrogen containing silicone oil and other silicone oils. At a glance familiar with methyl silicone oil, it can be seen that the hydrogen content is determined by the size of N in the molecular structure, as the sealing end groups of typical methyl silicone oil are the same.
Kinematic viscosity: We mentioned this when introducing the first two types of silicone oils. Kinematic viscosity refers to the ratio of the dynamic viscosity and density of a liquid at the same temperature.
Specific gravity: the ratio of the volume and density of a substance.
Refractive index: Refractive index can be used as a standard to measure the purity of a liquid and to determine its composition
Acid value: an indicator that measures the acidity or alkalinity of a product. The pH value of silicone oil products represented by the above parameters is generally between 6 and 8.
