Introduction to Vacuum Casting Process
Vacuum casting is a reliable and flexible process that can adapt to the development of complex designs. The company often uses it to produce prototypes and other end-user products. In order to achieve excellent results during the casting process, it requires high-quality prototypes.
Casting master molds are mainly created through stereolithography technology, which is a 3D printing technique used to create models, prototypes, patterns, and production parts layer by layer through photopolymerization. A high-quality main model and perfect design are crucial as they will only transfer any defects in the model to the final product or prototype. The use of high-end urethane casting services ensures that the model master in the picture takes the first step towards the final product as it is.
After designing and obtaining the model, insert it into a silicone mold consisting of two parts and subject it to some high temperatures. It will solidify and then open the model and silicone mold in a symmetrical manner. It will create a temple area within the model that is identical to the main model. Then the mold is placed well inside the vacuum chamber, hence the name vacuum casting.
In the vacuum chamber, they fill the required amount of material into the mold. The commonly used material for vacuum casting is polyurethane. Polyurethane castings are highly suitable for replicating design models and can meet the characteristics required for industrial grade materials such as fiberglass nylon, polycarbonate, and high-density polyethylene.
After filling the mold with ethyl carbamate, it is called carbamate molding and sealed. This is done using high-strength vacuum to ensure that they do not leave air molecules inside. After the casting process is completed, they open the mold and can spray the prototype or product according to the suggestions.
