Precautions for using condensed silicone gel in winter
As is well known, mold silicone requires the use of a curing agent to solidify. The function of the curing agent is to allow the active ingredients inside to undergo a chemical reaction with the components inside the mold silicone, allowing the liquid silicone to solidify. But because customers in different places have different operating habits and climate temperatures, it directly affects the curing of silicone. Below is an analysis of the relationship between the ratio of mold silicone and curing agent, as well as temperature.
At room temperature of 25 degrees, the curing agent is added at a ratio of 2%, and the conventional operating time is 30-40 minutes, with a curing time of 3-4 hours. When the proportion of curing agent increases by 1%, the operation time will be shortened by about 10 minutes, and the curing time will be shortened by about 30 minutes at the same time. When the proportion of curing agent decreases by 1%, the operating time will increase by about 10 minutes, and the curing time will also be extended by about 30 minutes. However, due to differences in temperature and humidity in different regions, the operation time and curing time of silicone gel may also be affected, so it depends on the specific situation.
When the curing agent stabilizes at 2%, the change in ambient temperature has a particularly significant impact on the curing time of silicone gel. When the ambient temperature drops by 5 degrees, the originally scheduled operating time and curing agent time will be doubled. When the ambient temperature rises, the operating time and curing time will also be correspondingly shortened. When the ambient temperature drops below 10 degrees, the curing time of the mold silicone will be greatly extended, and it may even be difficult to cure. At this point, appropriate heating measures can be taken to control the temperature at around 50 degrees Celsius, which will improve the curing effect of the mold silicone.
