What is the reason why transparent silicone is prone to yellowing
Transparent silicone products will not turn yellow after several years of normal storage, but sometimes during production, some newly released transparent silicone products may appear yellow, as if the color has changed. Why do transparent liquid silicone products turn yellow?
1、 Vulcanizing agent
The performance of vulcanizing agents is divided into universal and anti yellowing types. General non anti yellowing vulcanizing agents can be used for non exposed silicone products with darker colors or lower color requirements. Anti yellowing vulcanizing agents are applied to products that require exposure, light colors, fancy colors, and high color requirements.
2、 Craftsmanship
Poor production process control during the molding of transparent liquid silicone products results in yellowing of the color after molding. The main problems are: high mold temperature and long vulcanization time.
3、 The quality of the raw materials themselves is too poor
Sometimes we add anti yellowing vulcanizing agents to silicone, but transparent silicone products still appear yellow after molding. This may be due to poor anti yellowing properties of the raw materials, and it is recommended to replace the materials directly.
