Food grade silicone is also divided into many different materials due to different manufacturers. The vast majority of manufacturers use imported materials such as silicone oil and base glue when producing food grade liquid silicone. These imported ethylene based silicone oil and hydrogen containing silicone oil are brand new materials, so the gel produced from silicone will be better. Mainly manifested in the fine texture of the gel, transparent color, and no pungent odor volatilization. Using this good food grade silicone to produce food molds for flipping and eating food is relatively safe and has no impact on the human body or the product itself.
Meanwhile, a small number of silicone manufacturers, in order to save costs, use silicone oil and other auxiliary materials extracted from waste silicone, also known as cracking materials. Cracked silicone oil contains a large amount of impurities and toxic and harmful substances that cannot be completely removed. The food grade silicone gel produced from these cracking materials is poor, mainly manifested in the lack of delicacy, yellowing color, and slight odor volatilization. This liquid silicone produced from inferior materials, although nominally food grade silicone, cannot pass food grade certification through third-party testing. The liquid silicone made from cracking materials cannot be used to produce food products, and can only be used to make silicone molds for other industrial products.
