Can liquid silicone repair damaged silicone products?
Some silicone products can be repaired with liquid silicone, but the vast majority of products cannot be used for repair. Silicone products are made from liquid silicone, why can't some silicone products be repaired?
1. The operational performance of liquid silicone is poor. For example, liquid silicone with a hardness of 70 degrees cannot be repaired due to its high viscosity and inability to stir and vacuum.
2. The adhesion of liquid silicone itself is poor. During the repair process, it appears to be bonded to the original product on the surface, but in reality, it is only a false adhesion. A slight external force can cause it to fall off, leading to repair failure.
3. The physical properties of liquid silicone are not suitable for silicone products. For example, the hardness of silicone products may be 50 degrees, 60 degrees, or 70 degrees, while the hardness of liquid silicone may only be 10 degrees, 20 degrees, or 30 degrees, which cannot be repaired properly.
4. Liquid addition molded silicone, as a platinum catalyst, can cause catalyst poisoning and non solidification during repair, therefore it cannot be used to repair silicone products.
